Constance and Clare Cowley recount the story of their relative Molly O'Reilly, who hoisted the flag at Liberty Hall before the 1916 Easter Rising at the request of James Connolly. Molly was also involved in spying for Michael Collins after 1916 as well as being one of the first female hunger strikers in 1923. Constance and Clare also give their thoughts on how 2016, the 100th anniversary of the Rising, should be commemorated. At the Easter 2015 celebrations, Constance Cowley was present at the hoisting of the flag outside Liberty Hall organised by the Dublin North Inner City Folklore Project. The event was filmed by her daughter Clare and Marcus.

On the 6th December many proud parents and grandparents along with their children and grandchildren hit the streets of Dublin in a warm-up protest for the 10th of December. They came from Roscommon, Navan, Tipperary, Thurles, Kerry, Athlone, Dublin and one lady even came over from Lanzarote. They are asked why they are here as well and if they have a mesage for the Irish Government. Directed and edited by Marcus Howard. Filmed on December 6th, 4 days before the big protest on December 10th.
Directed and edited by Marcus Howard. This is my own independent response to the official 2016 Ireland Inspires video.I was that disappointed with the official 1916 video which made no reference to the leaders of 1916 and seemed like a watered down version of a video suitable for The Gathering that I decided to make my own one.. This video features quotes from various people involved in 1916 and looks at a variety of protests and issues around Ireland like the bondholder bailout protests which Ballyhea Says No and numerous other groups are protesting as well as some footage from protests at Shannon and water charge protests. The poem "Was It For This"? is performed and written by Stephen Murphy. I often walk around Dublin and wonder if the leaders of 1916 of which we will be commemorating in just over a year would be happy with the state of Ireland today.
Ireland 2016 The Unofficial Version #Ireland Inspires
At the 2014 Kilkenomics festival, respected economists and financial experts such as Constantin Gurdgiev, Max Keiser, Bill Black, David Hall and Stacy Herbert along with many others all marched with Diarmuid O’Flynn under the Ballyhea Says No to the Bondholder Bailout banner. This issue is bigger than the water charges as it affects Ireland's independence and sovereignty. Questions asked included should the €28 billion currently sitting in the Central Bank be burned, thoughts on Irish people paying 42% of Europe’s debt and what was their opinion on the Trichet letters which have only recently surfaced. The promissory note bonds are complex and perhaps deliberately so but they are breaking Ireland and making debt slaves of this generation and the next one. Please help get the message out there if you can. Directed and edited by Marcus Howard. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nf3wo-mkmyg
On November 1st nearly 100 local protests happened all around the country of Ireland against the water charges. This video features highlights from the Dublin Lockdown which saw numerous groups and communities stand shoulder to shoulder in their refusal to pay the water charges by Irish Water. The atmosphere at the protest had some moments of real electricity and Irish people regaining their pride.
Organised by Dublin Says No, The Land League and numerous other groups the event was a big success. Guest Brendan Ogle of Right2Water also highlighted another peaceful march and National Assembly outside The Dáil on December 10th. Minister of Finance Michael Noonan said that the November 1st would be the last protest. Judging from this protest as well as the numerous other successful ones in Dublin and all over the country, I think he may be in for a big surprise. Directed and edited by Marcus Howard.
On November 1st local protests took place against the water charges all over the country. This video features a selection of interviews taken before, during and after the Dublin Lockdown of November 1st regarding Irish Water and the water charges. I filmed and interviewed people from Connolly Station and at the GPO before and afterwards. The next date to march will be on December 10th at 1. Dublin Lockout The Interviews November 2014

The protest was called Lockout 2014 on September 20th and was hosted by a selection of non-political groups. Many people also returned their letters from Irish Water with "Return to Sender No Consent No Contract" in the GPO. Despite the huge number who turned out the protest was not covered by RTE. #Lockout2014 #Irishwater Lockout 2014 Water Charges Protest
In case anyone is wondering about the size of the protest I filmed this section near 2 o'clock from the O'Connell statue. I only arrived at 1 and people had been marching around the centre of Dublin I was told since 12. This clip is nearly 2 minutes long but I'm posting it to help figure out numbers. Lockout 2014 The Size of the Protest
At the outdoor screening of Dead Poet's society to honor Robin Williams memory, the entire crowd stood up and many started shouting the famous line "oh captain, my captain". The screening took place in Merrion Square Park and donations went to mental health organisations such as Pieta House and Headstrong. It was a very moving moment. I have also included some links to news relating to mental health and suicide in Ireland as well as some links to mental health organisations who are providing assistance to those in trouble. Dublin stands for Robin Williams memory
Directed and edited by Marcus Howard. Members of Ballyhea Says No, Irish European MEPs Luke Ming Flanagan and Nessa Childers, members of the Dail Technical Group and financial experts Stephen Donnelly and Peter Matthews all met with Patrick Honohan, the governor of the Central Bank of Ireland on July 24th 2014 where the Promissory Note bonds were on the agenda. This is something that everyone in Ireland will be paying unless there is a successful challenge to having to pay this odious debt. Patrick Honohan reluctantly agreed to write to the governing council (the ECB) about the group’s request to meet them with the Independent MEPs and TDs but he would not recommend it.
This is another positive step forward in the fight to protect future generations of Irish children from having to pay this debt and the interest on it. Various austerity cuts around Ireland are being implemented in order to pay back the bondholders (cuts to schools, hospitals, stealth taxes etc). Please help share this message as this affects everyone in Ireland.
Directed and edited by Marcus Howard. The Tuam mother and baby scandal is one of the darker chapters of Irish history which has only recently come to light. This independent documentary looks at some of the international media reaction to the Tuam scandal as well as poignant speeches and music from the Justice for the Tuam Babies march and vigil. The names of the 796 babies are also featured. Many groups are calling for an independent investigation which will include Catholic and Protestant mother and baby homes as well as other institutions such as the Magdalene laundries. If you could help get the message out on social media it would be appreciated or even contact your politicians on contact.ie Thank you if you can help.
Directed and edited by Marcus Howard. Interviews and footage from the Justice For The Tuam Babies march and vigil outside The Dáil on Wednesday. This video features interviewes with members of Survivors And Victims of Institutional Abuse, The Adoption Rights Alliance, The Aislinn Education and Support Centre, an interview with Mary Lou McDonald, music and performance from the event as well as the amazing story of Elizabeth Nolan.
Directed and edited by Marcus Howard. Relatives of the 1916 Easter Rising and campaigners held an Arms Around Moore Street protest where the national monument is about to be dwarfed by a huge shopping centre. This is inspite of it having economic, historical and tourism possibilities for future generations. The area is where the foundation of the Irish Republic began.
Luke "Ming" Flanagan is running for MEP. Vote on May 23rd if you are interested in getting your voice heard through him in the European Parliament. Luke Flanagan has repeatedly shown support for the turf cutters and whistleblowers as an independent TD as well as showing support on numerous occasions for Ballyhea and others who have objected to the burning of the bondholders. Despite many people trying to dismiss him he has been growing in support.
Diarmuid O'Flynn of Ballyhea is running for MEP. He has marched every week for over 162 weeks, he has been to Europe 3 times to negotiate debt write down for Ireland, he had a motion proposed in The Dáil in November 2013 and he has inspired Says No marches around all over Ireland. This video is his election poster. Please help him get his message out. www.diarmuidoflynn.com or Facebook Diarmuid O'Flynn From Ballyhea to Brussels. Please vote on May 23rd 2014.
Directed and edited by Marcus Howard. Moore Street was the last stand of the Volunteers who fought in 1916. Numbers 18 to 19 Moore Street are threatened to be demolished despite some of the rooms in question having historical significance. In place there are plans for yet another shopping centre for Dublin while destroying elements which could have historical and tourism potential for future generations. Interviewees including relatives of those who fought in 1916 are asked about the disputed historical significance of these houses and if they have a message for Minister for Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht Jimmy Deenihan.
Interviews with a selection of people relating to the housing crisis in Ireland who mention their experience. Every interviewee highlighted how Council policy appeared to be not to deal with anybody until they were homeless. Many have mentioned how they were placed in emergency accommodation (B+B's). Ireland appears to be facing an epidemic of evictions. Alan Lawes from People Before Profiit and Ken Purcell from Dublin Says No also feature. Interviewees are also asked if they would have a message for the Irish Government, how this is affecting their health and what their next step is. The upcoming Local and European elections are talked about at the end of this video in case viewers are looking to get actively involved and see if they can affect change through the ballot box. Is this what the Irish Government means by "sustainable solutions"?
